Three boys lost...
tragedy struck a swift and deadly blow.

sudan mokelyLast year was a good year in many ways. But sadly it ended on a tragic note. Three boys, driven from our care center program because of civil unrest in Sudan, succumbed to malaria while they were fleeing to the south with their families. (including Mokely, pictured left, and his 9-year old brother, Moto)

We received a tearful message from a heart-sick mother.

“My son is dead. He was very sick with fever and headache. Then he passed away.”

Through her grief this Christian mother explained how her precious son couldn’t talk for five days, he was so ill. This vibrant young man who was in our Boys' Hope Center will not be returning. While we know he is in heaven with Jesus, it still breaks our hearts to know these three lives were cut short.

In South Sudan today, boys and girls, women and men are struggling to survive in crowded refugee camps or merely by the side of the road. They have no access to even the most basic medical care. If they get sick or injured, they often pay with their lives.

In the town of Wau alone, hundreds of children are trying to survive on the streets. Our help is their one hope for a better future. Friends are needed to provide special gifts so these kids can be welcomed into the safety of our residential home. Sudan is a battleground. And we can’t leave these defenseless kids alone to fend for themselves.

Your gift today can give a child the education, food and medical care needed to become all that God intended!
