Ethiopia
In 2006 Kids Alive began our work in Ethiopia by adopting the Bethany Bokiji School. Education is always an essential tool in the fight against poverty and deprivation, but in a country like Ethiopia – where an estimated seven million children have no access to education – it is especially important. The Bethany Bokiji School is reaching destitute and illiterate children, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to ensure they have a brighter future.

Support Bethany Bokiji School
Bethany Bokiji School
In 2002 the local church in Bokiji rented a two-room, mud building with the goal of loving and educating over 200 extremely poor children. Despite the church's efforts, the school did not have the resources or proper facilities to succeed.
Kids Alive was impressed with the school’s commitment and desire to break the cycle of poverty and so we partnered with the school in 2006. Today the school is in a newly rented building with six classrooms, running water, electricity and enough space for a playground. We now employ eight local staff, and we are able to provide each child with a hot meal at lunch time. The Ethiopian government has given Kids Alive 10,000 square meters of land free of charge on which to build a new school. Eventually the school will have eight classrooms, a library, dining room, kitchen, toilets and a staff room. It is our intention for the children in the town of Bokiji to receive the best possible education, to equip them with skills for a brighter future.

Support Ethiopia Staff
Ethiopia Staff
National Staff in Ethiopia have been called by God to serve the children in some of the harshest conditions in the world. Due to the persecution of faith-based aid organizations their identities need to be protected. Please keep them in your prayers and consider financially supporting their work with the orphans.
