Juliana's Story
Growing up in one of the barrios that dot the countryside in the Dominican Republic, Juliana was lucky to get one meal a day. And the water supply was horrible. When it rained, the water from the community tap was brown and gritty. And in the dry season her family had no option but to head to the local stream for water that was dirty and contaminated, bearing diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery.
But Juliana was taken into the Kids Alive Care Center where she now receives nourishing meals, medical care, an education . . . and clean water to drink.
And while Kids Alive is providing safe water to children everywhere we work, in some areas more help is needed to ensure that clean, healthy water continues to be available to our growing number of children. Nothing is more vital to the well-being of children than clean water for drinking and washing.
