Pabius’ Story

Kenya-pabiusAfter his mother’s death, Pabius and his older brother were sent to live with their grandparents. But life there was harsh, and eventually the boys ran away and began living in the streets. While on the streets, Pabius had his leg broken by older boys. Without proper medical care he developed a bone infection that nearly cost him his leg, until the Kids Alive Boys Home stepped in and had him flown to a hospital where he got desperately needed specialty care.

After his recovery, Pablius and his brother moved into the Boys Home, where Palius became one of the school's best athletes. He also did well academically, got a scholarship for elementary school, and qualified to enter one of the best high schools in the region. He graduated from high school in November 2008 with a “B” average, and aspires to go on to college and become a civil engineer. As Pablius puts it, “No one in my family has come close to where I have in education. I would like them and my brothers at Kids Alive to know that anyone can make it in life.”

I would like to help a kid like Pabius!
