Stella's Story

PNG-StellaStella attends the Kids Alive School in the remote jungle village where she lives with her family. Like others, her family has no way to get jobs other than through the Kids Alive ministry. During the spring rains, their village floods almost every year, and the vegetables and fruits they planted in their gardens are washed away.  Because their diet consists of fish and sago paste (a thick starchy food made from the sago palm tree that has no nutritional value but is filling) they depend on their gardens to provide the needed vitamins and nutrients they lack in their diet. Kids Alive Child Sponsors of school children in this remote village help to supplement their diet with rice and beans, and provide basics like toothbrushes, toothpaste and bar soap for their families.
