special need abuseMy story

Before I was born, my mother tried to have an abortion by killing me with pills. When I was born she was 14, and there was nothing for me. She took me to another country because she heard the prostitutes made better money there. She left me with someone in exchange for some money but then came and got me back later because she needed me to take care of her baby. She found a man to live with us and she thought he was wonderful but he beat me and tried to have sex with me. I think I was 7 then. She blamed me for the man attacking me and said I needed to start earning money. She took me into a room with a man and left me. Later she left me in the city and someone found me and took care of me for awhile but then they gave me to other people.

When I think I was about 12, the police found me and brought me to this beautiful place (Kids Alive Children’s Home). God gave me a gift and I thank Him very much. I believe He was always taking care of me and I know now that He has a great plan for my life. My greatest dream is to serve Him and be an instrument in His hands. I know that God has changed my life very much and that He has already taken on himself all the bad in my life. I have prayed to God and I forgive my mother and stepfather and I pray they will know Jesus someday.

Lorena*

What you just read is Lorena’s real testimony in her own words. And I am happy to report that since this teenager came to live at a Kids Alive home, she has developed into a gracious young lady whose story is far from over.

Unfortunately her story is not the only one, almost one-third of our precious little boys and girls lived nightmares we cannot begin to imagine before being rescued and brought to a Kids Alive Home,

For every child like Lorena, we must go beyond meeting their basic needs and provide the extra care necessary to help them become whole again. Most need special medical and psychiatric care, a lot of love, and much prayer before their emotional wounds can begin to heal.

Because of your compassion, we’re able to provide the unconditional love, security, and the special care these kids need. Trusting all the while in the transforming power of Jesus Christ to heal their deep wounds.

Please give now to bring hope, healing and wholeness to these abused and exploited children!
