What Are Short-Term Missionaries?

The Short-Term Missionary Program allows individuals who are age 19 or older or have had one year of college, the opportunity to work as one of our Kids Alive Missionaries in a community of service to children-at-risk. It is our hope that as a Kids Alive Short-term Missionary you will discover your place of greatest impact in God’s Kingdom.

A strong candidate will exhibit a commitment to Jesus Christ, a natural love for children, team attitude, experience working with children and a knowledge of the language of the field or a willingness to learn the language of the field of service. (Language training is required of all Short-term Missionaries).

What is my Time Commitment?
  • Summer Intern: 6 - 10 weeks between May and August
  • Intern: 1 month to 6 months
  • Short-Term Missionary: 7 months to 2 years

What does it cost?

The total cost will depend on where you serve, length of stay, and type of ministry. Costs for a summer intern include round-trip air fare, transportation at the project, food, housing and ministry expense. Costs for an intern and short term missionary include language training, cultural training, round trip air fare, transportation on the field, housing, food and ministry expenses.

Kids Alive is a faith mission in which our missionaries raise their own prayer and financial support.  We recommend raising support through contacts with individuals, churches or groups who will become prayer partners with you.  All funds must be in place (in pledges and gifts) prior to the intern’s/short-termer’s departure to the field.
