Welcome to Kids Alive International in the UK!

Kenya

If you’re looking for information about the way Hope for Kids is uniting with Kids Alive International, you’ve come to the right place!

Effective January 2020, Hope for Kids officially becomes Kids Alive International. Our offices will move to London at the same time, becoming a vibrant base in the UK for growing awareness and support for our global work.

Kids Alive International began in 1916 in Shantung Province, China, when missionaries Leslie and Ava Anglin began taking in homeless Chinese children. From these humble beginnings, Kids Alive has expanded worldwide, helping care for thousands of children through family-style residential homes, care centres, schools, refugee programmes, and ministries to children who have been traumatised by sexual abuse and exploitation.

Kids Alive International works diligently to rescue, redeem, and restore orphans and vulnerable children with quality care and the transforming power of the love of Jesus Christ.

Here are answers to some question you might have about the changes:

Kenya UK Q: What is the connection between Kids Alive International and Hope for Kids?

A: Hope for Kids was established in 2011 to continue support for the work of Kids Alive International in the UK and around the world, rescuing, redeeming, and restoring orphaned, abandoned, abused, and at-risk children. Kids Alive has more than 100 years of experience in providing Christ-centred care for these children, their families and communities, and even their nations by influencing standards of care and resources for all children.

Kids Alive and Hope for Kids have maintained a close friendship and working relationship during these years, and now the HFK Trustees and the leadership of KAI (several of whom are British!), believe that in strengthening this partnership we can further the goal of caring for more children and introducing them to the hope of the Gospel.

Q: Why is this happening now?

A: As Kids Alive International and Hope for Kids have strengthened their links, so has our joint desire to be one organisation speaking with one voice. We believe that this will result in the lives of more children being changed forever!

Q: I chose to give through Hope for Kids because of your distinctly Christian mission and your commitment to caring for children with the love of Jesus. Can I be confident that Kids Alive International shares this commitment?

Kenya UK

A: Hope for Kids was established as a partner of KAI precisely because they share our – and your – desire to respond in obedience to Christ’s call to minister to the weak, vulnerable, and oppressed.

Kids Alive is a Christ-centred organization that cares for children in an atmosphere permeated with the Gospel and introducing each child to the God who loves them. It’s our prayer that this atmosphere spreads in ripples throughout the communities and countries we serve, creating eternal as well as earthly hope.

Q: I am sponsoring a child through Hope for Kids. Will I be able to keep supporting and communicating with my child if I give through Kids Alive International in the UK?

Kenya UK

A: YES! Nothing about your sponsorship or your relationship with your child will change. We want to make the transition as seamless as possible, and your child shouldn’t notice any difference in the way you communicate with them.

Q: Will I need to change my standing order/direct debit payment?

A: No, nothing about the transaction will change other than the name of the organisation.

Q: Will Kids Alive International be an independent UK charity with the Charity Commission?

A: Yes. Our status will not change, so Gift Aid can still be received on your donations.

Q: Can I learn more about Kids Alive International?

A: Of course! Please visit our Kids Alive website, especially the pages at https://www.kidsalive.org/meet-kids-alive/about/ and https://www.kidsalive.org/where-we-work/

Q: How can I contact Kids Alive UK for more information?

A: Please use whichever method is most convenient for you.
