ZAMBIA HOME

LOCATION

Emmanueli School, is located near the town of Mongu in Western Zambia.

HISTORY

Construction on a two-roomed school was completed in May 2003. This village project also has a sewing program for women, and a carpentry project for boys no longer in school. The Director of the program is Manuelly Nyumbu, and the overseers are Davern and Masoka Shilayi.

FACILITIES

There is a thatched-roof, two-roomed school, and two smaller structures for the sewing and carpentry programs.

PROGRAM

The program consists of reading, writing, and math readiness for children not yet able to go to the local government school. The children also receive a noon meal, 5 days a week. There are 40 orphans in the program and another 36 vulnerable children. Scripture instruction, and singing and prayer are an important part of the daily program. To provide women an avenue of income, sewing classes are taught, and the young men and boys are able to learn carpentry skills at the Cenetr.

FUTURE

This program will expand to include the construction of homes for widows and their children.
