Zambia: Lilato Three Children's Home

ZAMBIA HOME

LOCATION

The Lilato Children’s Home & Preschool (Lilato means Love) is The Lilato Three Children’s Home & Preschool (Lilato means Love) is located in the small town of Mongu, Zambia. Zambia is a land-locked country in southern Africa, just south of Congo and north of Zimbabwe.

HISTORY

The home was started in December of 2003.

FACILITIES

Kids Alive Zambia is currently renting a house where the children live with houseparents, Moses and Melody Kalenga, until they can obtain permanent facilities.

PROGRAM

The home also provides a preschool for younger kids, and the five older children attend the local primary school.

FUTURE

It is predicted that within the next 10 years, more than 50% of the adult population will die or be dying from AIDS. This means that many children will be left without any parent to care for them. More children are scheduled to be admitted to the Home. As the AIDS crisis dramatically changes countries like Zambia, more homes will be added so that more children will be cared for. Those children raised with the love of Christ and the discipline of committed parents or house parents will lead the country in the future.
