Join us this week in praying for the needs of orphans and vulnerable children around the world, along with some of the special needs in our ministry sites. Thank you, as always, for your prayers!
Monday, July 28th:
Lamentations 2:11: “My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within, my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city”.
Ask God for forgiveness that man has often failed to care for children, and that, as a result, so many are homeless, exploited and abused. Pray that God will call more Christians to share His love and the good news of the Gospel message with children. Thank God for the wonderful missionaries that God has called to serve in Kids Alive’s ministry around the world – and pray that many more people would be prompted to share His love by partnering with us!
Tuesday, July 29th:
Proverbs 2:6: “For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding”.
Pray for schools and educational projects that work with orphaned and vulnerable children, for support from local governments and for finance. Pray for Christian teachers that they would have faith, wisdom and strength, and confidence in the ‘call of God’ on their lives to teach. Pray today for our school in Haiti, that the children would make excellent academic progress – and grow spiritually as well.
Wednesday, July 30th:
Psalm 68:5-6: “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families….”
Pray for families, that God would protect and keep them together. Pray for children who have been orphaned, that they would know that they can have a Heavenly Father who loves them and who will never leave them or forsake them. Ask God to heal those who suffer with feelings of rejection and loss. Pray for our Keeping Families Together program in Kenya, that we would have opportunities to help more families in this country break the cycle of poverty, have a promising future – and come to know Christ’s love for them.
Thursday, July 31st:
Jeremiah 22:3: “This is what the Lord says: Do what is just and right…do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow…”
Pray for children who are exploited in the workplace. Pray for their safety and for legislation to rescue and protect them. Pray for healing and restoration of childhood for those children who have had it taken away and do not know what it is to play. Pray today for our ministry in Peru that is working in some of the poorest communities to give hope and a future to orphans and vulnerable children.
Friday, August 1st:
Psalm 113:7: “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap”.
Thank God for those Christians who already work with children at risk. Ask Him to encourage and strengthen them. Pray especially today for protection, wisdom and strength for our staff in Lebanon that, despite the uncertain security situation there, they would provide quality care and support to almost 150 children that we care for.
Saturday, August 2nd:
Isaiah 58:6-7: “Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yolk…is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter…?”
Pray for children that are hungry and sick. Pray for us and other organizations that reach out to orphans and vulnerable children with food and health programs. Pray today for South Sudan, which faces terrible famine, that crops would grow and that food aid would get to those that need it most.
Sunday, August 3rd:
Pray that God would show us all what we should be doing to tackle issues of poverty and injustice. Pray for individuals and churches to step up to the challenge to join Kids Alive to “seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow” (Isaiah 1:17).
Thank you for your prayers!
