Kids Alive International now cares for almost 1,500 children in four African countries – Zambia, Kenya, South Sudan and Sudan. The needs in these countries are huge: the level of poverty is overwhelming; sickness and death are widespread; and many children are orphaned or abandoned. Pray with us this week for the vast needs in these countries, for our committed staff, and for the wonderful children that we serve. Thank you!

Thank God that we are now working with more than 800 children in Zambia! There are great needs in this country – particularly in western Zambia, where we have two schools and four children’s homes. Pray that our work there would result in transformation in children’s lives, and that we would have the necessary resources to expand our facilities and help even more children in the future.

Praise God that our new “Good Shepherd Home” for former street children in the city of Wau, South Sudan, is now open and that 16 children (see picture right) now live here! Pray for the funding that is now needed to build two more bedrooms at this home which would enable us to double the number of children that we care for in the coming months. Pray also that we would develop excellent relationships with the local community and for opportunities to help more kids and their families in Wau.
Wednesday, July 9th
Pray for our Field Directors in Africa – Francis (South Sudan and Sudan), Purity (Kenya), Jim (Zambia) and their management teams. Pray for good health, strength, wisdom and God’s leading for them as these ministries continue to grow and reach out to more orphans and vulnerable children with quality care and education, as well as the love of Jesus.

Kenya has experienced ongoing terrorist attacks in recent months, mostly by a militant Somalian group, “Al-Shabaab”. Please pray for peace in this beautiful country and for the continued safety of our children and staff. We also have a number of service teams visiting our four homes, medical center and school in Kenya this summer; pray that they would remain safe as they travel, that they would accomplish the projects that they are supporting with, and that they would be an amazing blessing and encouragement to our kids and staff!
Friday, July 11th
Huge challenges face the church in Sudan, as the government continues its crackdown on Christians. Pray that believers in Sudan would know the Lord’s peace and strength at this difficult time. Pray for the 30 former street children that we work with in Khartoum, that they would grow up to love and serve the Lord and that our Sudanese staff will be able to continue this important work despite the pressure that they encounter from the authorities.
Saturday, July 12th
South Sudan was recently reported to be the world’s most fragile nation. In recent months, violence has left hundreds of thousands of people displaced or as refugees; thousands of others have been killed; and the country is now on the brink of terrible famine. Please pray for peace in this land, that political leaders would choose to engage in dialogue rather than weapons to resolve their differences; pray for South Sudanese Christians and churches as they seek to show the light of Christ in this situation; and pray for humanitarian organizations – including Kids Alive – as they do what they can to alleviate the suffering.
Sunday, July 13th
More than anything, we want to see our children come to know Jesus and serve Him in their lives! All of our kids will be attending church today. Pray that, despite the hurts and pain that they have experienced in their lives in the past, they would have a real sense of God’s presence with them today, and that their relationships with Him would continue to grow in the future!
Thank you for your prayers!
