There are millions of children at risk around the world. Join us this week in praying for these kids and the crisis situations that they face – and for Kids Alive as we seek to rescue and restore even more children that are suffering.

Child Abuse: In the last week, a report from the UN has revealed that 1 in 10 girls around the world is sexually abused. This figure is much higher in some nations than others – including some countries where Kids Alive works. In Guatemala, a high percentage of girls experience some form of abuse. Pray for our girls’ home in Guatemala, the Oasis, as it rescues and provides healing to girls that are victims of sexual abuse, and seeks to ensure that justice is served to the perpetrators of such abuse.

War and Conflict: Many innocent children are caught in horrific conflict situations around the world – including in Syria, Iraq, the Central African Republic – and South Sudan, where warring tribes have recruited an estimated 9,000 child soldiers in recent months. Pray for the protection and growth of Kids Alive’s work in South Sudan, and also in Lebanon where we are developing new education programs to work with refugee children from Syria.

Child Marriage: Every year, 14 million girls are married as children. The rates of child marriage are highest in Africa, including in Zambia, where Kids Alive works. Rates of child marriage are also very high in the Dominican Republic. Our children’s homes in many countries give shelter to children that might otherwise be at risk of child marriage. Pray that increased awareness, changed attitudes and improved legislation around the world would reduce this very serious problem; pray also for the protection for the at-risk children that Kids Alive works with.

Sickness and Disease: As many as 24,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Diseases like malaria, pneumonia, diarrhea and TB result in many deaths each year. Pray for Kids Alive’s medical programs around the world, that we would be able to provide quality medical care to the children in our programs, as well as provide support and health education programs that would save many lives in the communities where we serve.
Friday, September 12th
Trafficking: 1.2 million children, most of them girls, are trafficked each year around the world. Many are forced into child labor, slavery and prostitution. Trafficking is a significant problem in Latin America, including Haiti and Guatemala. Pray that governments would be committed to tackling this evil trade and that Kids Alive and other organizations would be effective in rescuing children that are at risk of being trafficked.
Saturday, September 13th
Extreme Poverty: Worldwide, 600 million children live in extreme poverty – on less than $1 a day. In sub-Saharan Africa, 1 in 9 children die before their fifth birthday. Pray for Kids Alive’s work in Kenya and Zambia – that our children’s homes would have the resources to rescue the most needy children, and that our schools, care centers and community programs would provide the education and support that will enable children and their families to break the cycle of poverty for the future.
Sunday, September 14th
Children need to hear the Gospel! In so many countries and communities, children simply do not have the opportunity to hear about Jesus and His love for them. Pray today that Kids Alive would be effective in sharing the truth of the Gospel message with our children and that they would respond; pray also that the communities where we serve across the world would be impacted by our witness to Him!
Thank you for your prayers!
