Ark Constanza Children's Home

Constanza | Dominican Republic

The Ark is a refuge of hope and safety for up to 40 children and youth who have come from hard places. We currently have four homes where the kids live as “families” and learn what it means to belong. Holistic care is always our goal, and the children attend school, receive counseling to cope with trauma, and hear about the love of Jesus. read more »

The Face of Hope at Ark Constanza

The Ark is a life-giving place for many children, and this has certainly been the case for Elena*. When she arrived here many years ago, she was emotionally unstable, behind in her academics, shy, and disconnected from any biological family members. She needed intense psychological help and counseling to process traumatic experiences in her past. Living in a loving environment and receiving specialized help have made a huge impact in Elena’s life, bringing emotional stability that she desperately needed.

Tutoring has helped Elena improve in her academics so much that she is now an “A” student in math, a subject she used to hate. She has learned to play the guitar and is much more outgoing than before. Our independence program has taught her good work habits and life skills that will serve her well as she graduates from the Ark and begins studying in university next year. And what a joy to see our family reunification efforts result in Elena meeting several members of her extended family! She even began a relationship with a sister she had never known before she came to the Ark. We rejoice at what God has done in her life and trust that she has a bright future ahead.
