Friends of Peru Children's Home is located in the small town of Andahuaylas, nestled in a valley in the Andes mountains. Rescuing children who have been orphaned, abandoned, or abused, we work to care for them in holistic, restorative ways. Children get to experience a loving, family-style home with nurturing house parents who help them work through past trauma. There are currently 16 children who have a home here. read more »

The Face of Hope at Friends of Peru

Andrew* came to the Friends of Peru home through the help of a local teacher when efforts to locate his parents failed. When he first arrived, he was sad, shy, and nervous. He was used to being on his own, having been neglected, abused, and abandoned, so he related to others with skepticism and even aggression. Eventually he began to express himself in healthy ways to his house parents and peers. Instead of being aggressive, he confidently formed relationships because he finally felt like part of a family.

Though Kids Alive is dedicated to restoring kids to their biological families when possible, Andrew’s relatives so far have shown no interest in reunification. We are working to connect him with others in his community with the hope that he will have a surrogate family by the time he graduates from high school. He has made good relationships in the local church and has big dreams for his future. His plan is to study law in university and Kids Alive is excited to support him in that endeavor. What a gift to see this young man’s life transformed, and we look forward to what God will do with him in the future.
