Located within the bustling communities and countryside of the Dominican Republic, Kids Alive empowers children, families, and communities to become agents of change through restorative education in our seven schools and protective care in our three residential campuses. We’ve been beacons of hope for over 30 years and see the impact of children becoming servant leaders in our programs. Our goal for each child is to know the love of God, to understand they are cherished, and to be equipped with the emotional, physical, and spiritual tools they need to thrive.
Give NowFrom a home fraught with domestic violence, Cristina entered a Kids Alive sports program. There she found encouraging and safe mentors to guide her on a Christ-focused path and away from the prostitution and early marriage that seemed likely. With the help of ministry workers, Cristina moved to another Kids Alive town, where she began working in our Safe Haven campus while completing her degree as a psychologist. This year, she received a full scholarship to a Biblical counseling certificate program and is excited to add a Christian foundation to her secular psychology education!

“Safe Havens” are Kids Alive’s global programs that focus on family strengthening through family care centers, protective care through residential homes and foster care, or justice advocacy through justice centers. Our goal is to bring a team of professional staff dedicated to meeting each child’s unique needs for health, justice, and emotional healing as needed by the unique circumstances of the child. These teams work tirelessly, in whichever Safe Haven they enter, to lead children to emotional health, equip the child and their family for independence and service, disciple them to a transforming relationship with God, and when needed, help them find justice and freedom from fear. After years of nurturing their physical and emotional well-being, our team explored the possibility of reuniting them with their mother. Their mother eagerly welcomed them back into her home through spiritual guidance and support, embracing her newfound faith and calling to raise her children. The boys are thriving in their family environment, with their mother providing love, support, and essential care. When it comes to reunification, this is the ideal scenario, where we can come alongside families to help them be healthy examples of Christ’s love.
