Haitian culture is vibrant, with distinctive food, a thriving arts community, and a rich heritage – one that Kids Alive has been a part of for more than twenty years. However, Haiti has also been severely impacted by natural disasters and political strife, which weakens families and communities and puts children at higher risk for suffering abuse or neglect. Our restorative education and protective care programs focus on healing these traumas. Our goal for each child is to know the love of God, to understand they are cherished, and to be equipped with the emotional, physical, and spiritual tools they need to thrive.
Give NowKids Alive Haiti promotes vocational skills in the community. One of our goals is to equip children and families for a life of independence and service. Kids Alive Haiti staff celebrated Labor and Agriculture Day with the children in our care. This special day was reserved to promote local culture and manual trades such as shoemakers, sewing, and more. There was a large exhibition of local products including potato, plantain, sugar cane, orange, papaya, breadfruit, yam, etc. The students presented many shows about manual trades and highlighted the importance of specific fruits. This event highlighted the importance of vocational skills in the community to students, which encourages Haitian youth to pursue trades that will help them provide for their future families.

“Safe Havens” are Kids Alive’s global programs that focus on family strengthening through family care centers, protective care through residential homes and foster care, or justice advocacy through justice centers. Our goal is to bring a team of professional staff dedicated to meeting each child’s unique needs for health, justice, and emotional healing as needed by the unique circumstances of the child. These teams work tirelessly, in whichever Safe Haven they enter, to lead children to emotional health, equip the child and their family for independence and service, disciple them to a transforming relationship with God, and when needed, help them find justice and freedom from fear.
