Dina* and her mother returned home to family recently, but their social worker and therapist from KAG continue to visit and provide services for them monthly. Our Families Together program staff work hard to get court-ordered visitations for all families and children for at least a year after girls are reunited with family. *Name changed

The local fire department sent a fire safety officer to train Kids Alive Guatemala staff at Oasis on the use of fire extinguishers and to replace the expired extinguishers. It was the first such training in over a year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Many staff had fun taking turns at learning to use a fire extinguisher for the first time. One member remarked, “I enjoyed the presentation and having the opportunity to learn how to use a fire extinguisher. I now have more confidence because I know the steps involved and I have done it before if the unfortunate time comes…”

Philippians 2:1-2: “Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.”

Young ladies at Casa Ester participate in an adapted adult education program for people with special needs. Students study language, arts skills, reading, and highlighting and note-taking.

The long-awaited day has arrived! This young lady takes one last poignant look from what will soon be her former home, even as she eagerly awaits the arrival of her mentor-turned-foster parents coming to pick her up and make her a part of their family.

Cesar* is all smiles with his Happy Meal! The local McDonald’s donated Happy Meals for all the children and staff at Oasis and Casa Ester. We are always grateful for generous donations from our amazing partners. *Name changed

Our new comfortable patio and pergola for the young ladies to relax, chat and play board games. Until recently it was laundry drying area!

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 This young lady has shown so much faith and believed with her whole heart that it would happen! We pray that many more youth will have the opportunity to live in family soon!

At Kids Alive we value integrated development. For that reason, the young ladies at Oasis and Casa Ester participated in a conference this weekend, focused on their identities as daughters of God, their value and specific purpose in life.
