Face-painting, blowing bubbles, embroidery and bracelet making, clowning, and Bible storytelling via drama, topped by community trash collection - all a part of life at Palo Blanco!
The visiting Wellspring Alliance Church team shared their love of God by engaging with the children at Palo Blanco through these activities. Then, in partnership with a group of high schoolers from Palo Blanco, the team collected trash from the local community areas, setting new standards for hygiene.

This season was marked by powerful moments of joy, trust, and renewed hope across Kids Alive communities, as children and families experienced belonging, celebration, and the steady presence of care. Through growing relationships, healing-centered spaces, and meaningful partnerships, lives are being strengthened and futures made safer—reminding us that when love shows up consistently, transformation follows.

This Christmas, women gathered for a shared lunch where the story of Christ’s birth was brought to life—creating space for reflection, joy, and connection. Through time spent together, simple celebrations, laughter, and a shared meal, the women experienced a moment of rest, belonging, and care.
Moments like these—marked by presence and genuine connection—help create environments where trust can grow and hearts can feel safe.

Love that creates safety shows up every Saturday in Kenya.
At Karundas Hope Center, children gather for weekly mentorship, devotions, counseling, and community—while caregivers are being equipped with tools for healing and stronger homes.
As some of our longtime students transition to high school, a new Guardians’ Forum 2026 was held to enroll children from vulnerable families and ensure the continuity of this life-giving program.
When caregivers lean in and communities rally together, love becomes protection, and mentorship becomes a pathway to lasting hope.

A new year. New milestones. And so much hope ahead.
At Kids Alive Academy in Zambia, 2026 is off to a beautiful start—welcoming 34 nursery students into the classroom for the very first time and celebrating 414 learners advancing to the next grade after passing their end-of-term exams.
Each number represents more than academic progress. It reflects safe classrooms, nourishing meals, trauma-informed care, and teachers who walk patiently with children as they grow in confidence, faith, and resilience.
This year, we’re praying for continued growth, joyful learning, and lasting transformation—for exam success, creativity, laughter, and holistic support that helps every child shine brighter.
Because when love creates safety, learning can flourish.

Kids Alive Guatemala welcomed Flor de María Gálvez Barrios, sitting Justice of Guatemala’s Supreme Court, to Oasis Vida para Niños.
The visit—held following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Guatemala’s Judicial Branch—offered an opportunity to see firsthand how comprehensive, trauma-informed care supports girls on a path toward healing, dignity, and hope. Justice Gálvez Barrios met with Kids Alive leadership, toured the Oasis campus, and learned more about the multidisciplinary care that surrounds each child.
Her presence reflects growing trust and collaboration between Kids Alive Guatemala and the national justice system—an important step forward in advancing restorative, child-centered justice across the country.
This is Justice that Heals in action.

Students at Kids Alive School in Haiti gathered to celebrate the greatest gift of all—Jesus coming to dwell among us, opening the way for new life in Christ and welcoming us into a global family of faith.
Through laughter, sharing, and moments of pure joy, children were reminded that they are seen, loved, and surrounded by hope.
At Kids Alive Haiti, restorative education wraps children in stability, care, and the love of Christ—creating spaces where smiles return, faith grows, and hope for the future takes root.
Because when love shows up consistently, joy follows.

We’re celebrating a new cooperation agreement between Kids Alive Perú (Niños a la Vida) and the Local Education Management Unit (UGEL) of Coronel Portillo – Ucayali, strengthening shared efforts to prevent violence and protect adolescents within public schools.
Through this partnership, teachers and school leaders in Yarinacocha will be trained in Jugando Nos Fortalecemos (“Strengthening Through Play”)—a participatory approach that builds self-protection skills, encourages healthy relationships, and supports early identification of risk.
By working hand in hand with education authorities, Kids Alive International is helping equip educators as key agents of change—creating safer, more resilient schools where adolescents can learn, grow, and live free from violence. This is prevention in action. Justice that heals. Relationships that restore.

As last year drew to a close, these Alive Moments revealed how God continues to bring light, joy, and restoration into the lives of children and families around the world. Through Christmas celebrations, playful learning, and strengthened families, each moment reflects Kids Alive’s commitment to justice that heals and bonds that mend. These stories remind us that in seasons of hope or transition, consistent care and Christ-centered presence lay the foundations for a lasting impact.
Lebanon: At the New Horizons Center, young learners discovered the alphabet through hands-on play, building confidence, patience, and fine motor skills.
Kenya: At Kids Hope Connection Camp, children from different communities learned to love God and one another through selfless care and shared understanding.
Zambia: Children celebrated Christmas through worship, storytelling, and joyful performances, gathering as a community to remember Christ’s birth and experience the hope of Emmanuel—God with us.
Dominican Republic: Early-intervention support at Park School is helping Sam grow in confidence, connection, and communication—pairing classroom routines with specialized therapies so he can thrive one steady step at a time.
Guatemala: A new five-year agreement with the Guatemalan Secretary of Social Welfare marks a major step toward family-based care, strengthening foster systems and helping children find safety, belonging, and stability in loving homes.
Haiti: The school year began with worship, prayer, and encouragement. Students and families were reminded that education and community lead to long-term growth and purpose.
Peru: Pietro’s artistic journey took a meaningful step forward, nurturing creativity, resilience, and future dreams.

In Lebanon, some of our youngest learners arrive having never stepped into a classroom, growing up in tents without access to early education. Today, those same kids are rolling, shaping, and squishing playdough into letters, discovering the alphabet through laughter and hands-on learning instead of lectures. As they press tiny fingers into bright colors, they’re not just memorizing symbols, they’re experiencing what safe, joyful #educationthatheals can feel like.
Each letter builds fine motor skills, patience, and the courage to try again when something doesn’t work the first time. As teachers gently guide them through trial and error, children begin to see themselves as capable and creative, not defined by hardship or displacement. This simple activity is one more way Kids Alive is helping kids in Lebanon grow in confidence, hope, and a sense of belonging.

When children from the Nairobi and Karundas Hope Centers came together in Kenya, they brought with them very different life experiences. Some grew up in crowded informal settlements, others in surrounding rural communities. It was a time for connection and learning from others, opening the door for growth, understanding, and healing.
Through the spiritual, emotional, and financial support of Kids Alive, staff created space for these children to meet, share life, and learn side by side. Together, they focused first on their connection to God—understanding His love for each of them—and then on extending that same love to one another. Children and staff explored what it looks like to live with care and respect in their spiritual lives, emotions, physical well-being, and relationships at home and in their communities.
As relationships deepened, children learned that selfishness brings no lasting reward, but selfless love plants seeds for the future. As these lessons are carried home, families are beginning to feel the impact, and hope is growing that this love will continue to ripple outward—bringing lasting transformation to families and communities across Kenya.

At our Christmas party, a local pastor shared a message and prayed with the children as they joyfully presented dances, songs, and a nativity sketch telling the story of Jesus’ birth. The day was filled with laughter, worship, shared meals, cake, and the giving of simple gifts—books, pencils, and pens—each one a reminder that every child is seen and valued.
Moments like these reflect the beauty of community, faith, and bonds that mend—where children are surrounded by love, celebration, and the hope of Emmanuel, God with us.

In Guatemala, many children enter large institutions not because they lack family, but because caregivers don’t have the support they need. This month, Kids Alive Guatemala took a hopeful step towards changing that future.
We signed a 5-year agreement with the Guatemalan Secretary of Social Welfare to strengthen the country’s foster care system and prevent further institutionalization of children. Through this partnership, Kids Alive International will work with the government to place 15 children into safe, loving foster families, offering the stability, belonging, and Justice That Heals every child deserves.

The government celebrated this effort as a move to strengthen family protection, and we’re honored to be part of a national shift toward family-based care.

The first day of the school year is always filled with possibilities, but for our students in Haiti, it is also a reminder of God’s faithful protection and the hope that steady, safe education brings. On that day, students, staff, and parents gathered in the campus cafeteria to begin the year the way they begin so many days at our Kids Alive school: with praise and thanksgiving.
As the room filled with worship, children settled into a sense of belonging and calm, surrounded by trusted adults who care deeply about their growth. After this spiritual moment, the community listened to words of encouragement from Educational Coordinator Mr. Raymonson and National Director Mr. Robenson. Their message was simple but powerful: this year holds opportunity, and together we will pursue success, purpose, and fruitfulness.
For children who face daily instability in Haiti, these rhythms of prayer, learning, and community matter deeply. They create an environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally, with the steady support of Kids Alive Haiti and our commitment to Education That Heals.

Pietro, a 15-year-old with a mind that travels through centuries, has always been captivated by the stories ancient civilizations leave behind. His fascination with architecture and history has shaped a drawing style that is detailed, patient, and full of movement, every line reflecting discipline, purpose, and beauty. Through his sketchbooks, he studies how people of the past built worlds that still inspire us today, learning not just to draw, but to understand.
At Kids Alive Peru, Pietro is growing in confidence and finding space to explore his gifts. Recently, he painted a large canvas of a serene beach at sunset and a Kids Alive collaborator purchased it, marking an important milestone in his artistic journey. This encouragement fuels his dream of creating a graphic story that teaches others to value history, art, and imagination. With support, he’s learning new techniques, setting goals for his future, and discovering how creativity can shape his path.
Even as he dreams of mastering palette-knife painting, Pietro also hopes to study marketing or business, fields he believes will help him blend creativity with leadership and purpose. His advice to younger artists is simple and wise: “Don’t give up.” At Kids Alive Peru, this resilience is nurtured every day, reminding us how Education That Heals open doors for young people building strong, hope-filled futures.

This month’s Alive Moments offer a window into the quiet, steady ways healing grows—through encouraging words, family-strengthening spaces, creative expression, and early-intervention support. Kids Alive teams are walking with children and families in ways that nurture safety, restore identity, and reinforce God’s hope for their futures. These stories remind us that when compassionate care meets consistent presence, lives begin to mend and communities move toward wholeness.
Lebanon: Staff embraced new “life declaration” cards—Scripture-rooted truths that speak worth and identity—using them to encourage one another and reinforce healing rhythms with children.
Kenya: Family training at Karundas Hope Center equipped parents with Trauma Healing tools, strengthening family bonds and building emotional wellness for the long term.
Zambia: After overcoming instability and persevering through long commutes to finish school, Mwenge received holistic support at Kids Alive, completed his exams, and was safely reunited with his family.
Dominican Republic: Early-intervention support at Park School is helping Sam grow in confidence, connection, and communication—pairing classroom routines with specialized therapies so he can thrive one steady step at a time.
Guatemala: At a regional gathering, our team equipped churches and child-protection partners with tools for trauma-informed foster care, raising awareness for safe families and healing-centered justice.
Haiti: Weekly gatherings are helping children practice respect, name big feelings, and build healthy relational rhythms—small steps that strengthen community and nurture hope.
Peru: Through art mentoring, one young creator found healing in color and imagination, discovering her identity and dreams in a safe, supportive space.

Kids Alive leaders Dan and Rachel visited our Lebanon team to introduce our “life declaration” cards. These contain simple, Scripture-rooted “I Am” statements. "I am Chosen," "I Am Clean," "I Am God’s Masterpiece," and "I Am God’s Child."
Staff members were challenged to speak these truths over their own lives first, then share them with the kids. The very next day, the office team began reflecting on the first card and connecting its truth to their own stories, healing that starts from the inside out.
Rachel spent time listening to children and encouraging our caregivers, reminding everyone that Kids Alive is about true holistic care—safety, belonging, and identity in Christ. As Dan shared how these cards are being used in other countries, our Lebanon staff caught the vision for daily rhythms that reinforce worth and hope. This is “education that heals” in action, helping children replace trauma with truth and step into God’s future for them.

During a family training at the Karundas Hope Center in Kenya, parents learned about Trauma Healing. They shared how the session opened their eyes, and how God is restoring them as they learn to strengthen and nurture their families.
These monthly trainings are just one of the many ways Kids Alive is investing in communities for the long term, providing both a time of rest and lasting hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for helping to create and sustain spaces like Karundas Hope Center, where families gain tools for emotional wellness, form Bonds That Mend, and help their communities to become free from fear and violence.

Despite significant challenges, Mwenge (pseudonym used for safety) never gave up on his education. When he was referred to Kids Alive Zambia's residential program for safety and stability, he stayed determined—taking two buses every day to keep attending school while receiving holistic support for his emotional, spiritual, and academic growth.
This year, his hard work led him to Grade 12.He recently completed his final exams and has now been safely reunited with hisfamily, returning to a stable home prepared for what comes next.
This is Education that Heals in action—steady, hopeful steps toward a future filled with dignity and possibility.

At Park School in the Dominican Republic, teachers noticed early that Sam (pseudonym used for safety) needed extra support with learning and behavior. Because these challenges were identified when Sam was just three, our multidisciplinary team could respond quickly, creating a holistic plan for his care. In Kids Alive classrooms, early intervention means starting with safety, predictable routines, and encouragement that helps children succeed.
Now in second grade, Sam is blossoming. He reads with growing confidence, participates in discussions, and is building a bigger vocabulary. Through speech therapy, he’s learning to hold conversations with teachers and friends, something that once felt out of reach. Our “education that heals” approach pairs classroom strategies with specialized support so kids can practice new skills in real time and feel the joy of progress.
Support doesn’t end at the school gate. Following our psychologist’s guidance, the boys attend outside therapy twice a week, and their dad shows up daily to share lunch, strengthening healthy habits and deepening family bonds. With coordinated care in general education, special education, and therapy sessions, Sam is learning to self-regulate, engage with peers, and face challenges with courage. This is the impact of holistic care in the DR: children growing in confidence and hope, one steady step at a time.

Children in Guatemala deserve safety, family, and a path to healing. That’s the heart behind our foster care work at Oasis and across Kids Alive Guatemala. At a regional gathering of child-protection leaders, our team shared how trauma-informed care and family-based solutions can protect children and restore hope. From table conversations to hallway introductions, we lifted up the vision of KAI so more churches and organizations could learn how foster families help kids belong again.
Our Country Director, Rosalva Alvarado, joined a panel to spotlight how Oasis pairs protective care with wraparound support, while staff served as “coaches” in breakout tables to help practitioners apply Justice that Heals in their own contexts. Escuintla Justice Center Coordinator Susana Escobedo led a hands-on workshop on building responses that bring accountability, safety, and compassion together. These moments let leaders see that healing justice is practical: it looks like trained caregivers, consistent therapy, safe reporting pathways, and partnerships that keep children first.
The impact is already growing. Our presence raised awareness of Kids Alive Guatemala’s foster family program, opened doors for collaboration with churches and ministries, and equipped our own staff with fresh skills and networks for the road ahead. As new partners explore next steps and our team brings home what they learned, more children can find safety in families, more caregivers can be supported, and more communities can take courageous steps toward healing and hope.

Every child in residential care needs places to practice safety, belonging, and healthy choices. In Haiti, our social work team hosts a weekly Monday gathering at the Village—sometimes outside under the trees, sometimes inside one of our five homes—where children and teens explore a new theme each week. Through games, guided discussions, and simple routines, we build rhythms of mutual respect and individual responsibility that reflect Kids Alive’s holistic care.
The impact is growing: students are learning peaceful conflict resolution, naming big feelings, and cheering each other on, all small wins that add up to confidence, cooperation, and a stronger sense of family. This is hope rising in Haiti, creating a safe, harmonious space where character takes root and hope can flourish.

In Peru, one young artist found her voice through color and canvas. When sadness pressed in, painting helped her breathe again, quieting the world and lifting her spirit. In our Kids Alive community, mentors made space for weekly art times where she could process big feelings, explore identity, and name hope. “My favorite piece is a heart,” she shared. “It holds all our emotions—who we truly are.”
Now she dreams of studying interior design and growing as a kind, generous creator, trusting God to guide each step. This is Education That Heals in Peru: safe spaces, caring adults, and creative tools that build resilience and purpose. For girls still searching for hope, her message is simple: hold on to God, keep practicing your gifts, and watch good things grow.
